We accept and encourage donations through the Bridge Community Foundation so we can continue to elevate the level of access, funding, education, and resources we provide to communities of color.

We emphasize community building as an integral part of revolutionizing maternal health.

We strive to build a future where every family, regardless of their background, has equal access to competent care and resources, resulting in improved maternal health outcomes for all.

Our goals

  • Maternal and infant health disparities are symptoms of broader underlying social and economic inequities that are rooted in racism and discrimination.

  • Disparities in maternal and infant health, in part, reflect increased barriers to care for people of color. Research shows that coverage before, during, and after pregnancy facilitates access to care that supports healthy pregnancies, as well as positive maternal and infant outcomes after childbirth. Overall, people of color are more likely to be uninsured and face other barriers to care.

  • Numerous studies have documented the benefits of having a doula present during labor. A recent Cochrane Review, Continuous Support for Women During Childbirth, showed a very high number of positive birth outcomes when a doula was present. With the support of a doula, women were less likely to have pain-relief medications administered and less likely to have a cesarean birth. Women also reported having a more positive childbirth experience.
