Since the fall of 2004, we have been a part of a mission-partnership with a church in the neighborhood of Cerro Batea in Panama City, Panama. To be in a “partnership” means that we are developing relationships with the people of the Cerro Batea community and joining them in the work and service of following Jesus.
Whether it’s here in Hardin County or to the farthest parts of the earth, our desire is to be and invite others to be disciples of Jesus Christ in a dynamic, authentic community. We’re getting rid of distinctions like “ministry” and “mission,” where ministry is what we do in the church, and mission is what we do outside it. The mission Jesus gave us (Matthew 28:18-20) is the work of the church. We’re also trying to get rid of terms like “missionary” and “mission field,” since we believe every Christian is a missionary and every place is a mission field.
